Safran Landing Systems Open House

On Thursday, Feb. 23rd from 4:00-5:30, Safran Landing Systems will be having an open house at their Walton location.  The event will include a guided tour of the facility,  hands-on demonstrations in the training room, and information about MakerMinded, which is a new STEM engagement program in Kentucky.   This is open to all students, but you must see Ms. Hirn to sign up

KHSAA Swim & Dive State Championship

BCHS has qualified for the KHSAA Swim & Dive State Championship. Sean Courtney will be competing in the diving preliminaries on Thursday. Swimming preliminaries are Friday morning, and all finals are Saturday morning.  Participants are:

Pre-Collegiate Studies Programs

Stanford Pre-Collegiate Studies programs are now accepting applications.  Programs range from non-credit enrichment summer institutes to high school summer college programs.  For additional information, please visit here.

US Naval Academy

BCHS is both proud and honored to announce that Nick Berry has been offered an appointment to the United States Naval Academy. Nick is one of 1,350 students who earned an appointment out of over 17,000 who applied. Congratulations Nick Berry on this tremendous accomplishment!!


For the fifth consecutive year The Boone County Lady Rebels earned their way to the State Championship last Friday.  The girls made it to the semifinals by defeating a very talented Louisville Mercy team.  The team lost in the semifinals to the number one seeded team, Central Hardin.

Junior Taylor Evans placed sixth in the singles tournament on Thursday.  

Sophomore Kara Strong was the state runner-up in the singles competition.


Flag Mural

Kroger MuralMs. Grant and some of her art students created a flag mural at the newly remodeled Kroger store on KY 18 in Burlington.  The students spent 2 days this week working on this project which will eventually become an honorary wall for local veterans.   Great job Ms. Grant and students!

Mulch Sale--Girls Soccer Champions 2016 Districts

The girls’ soccer team will be selling MULCH as a fundraiser.  Our team is working to purchase new equipment for training.   I have attached the flyer  and square footage are the same as we used last season. Anyone interested in purchasing mulch can email Coach Hughes, print order form, or talk with a girls soccer player….due by March 15th, 2016 with payment

We are planning PICKUP ON March 31st @ BCHS in the evening.  Anyone ordering 5+bags and within local travel can get free delivery to their home on April 1st.  

Ohio-Kentucky All-Star Game

Zyah Beal was selected to play in the 26th Annual Holloway Ohio-Kentucky All-Star Girls Basketball Game “The Battle at the Border”, on Saturday, April 8, 2017.  The game will be played at Thomas More College in Crestview Hills, KY. 

Commonwealth Honors Academy

The Commonwealth Honors Academy is a summer option for students going into their senior year.   It is a three-week program (June 10-July 1, 2017) at Murray State University.   This is a great opportunity for students as they earn six college credits while experiencing the environment of a post-secondary institution. 

ACT Preparation Course at Northern Kentucky University

ACT Preparation Course at Northern Kentucky University

Saturdays, Feb 18-April 1 (no class March 11) from 9-11 a.m.

$255 (include text book and materials)

Six week class meets Saturday mornings February 18, 25, March 4, 18, 25, and April 1 (NO Class March 11). This review of each section of the ACT can help you build confidence and increase your scores. Complete sample tests, learn test-taking tips and review subject matter to help you perform more quickly and comfortably on test day. Taught by two content specialists, three weeks focus on mathematical skills and three weeks cover English, rhetorical skills and reading comprehension. Plan to devote two hours outside of class to weekly assignments. This class is recommended for first-time and repeat test-takers. Text book is included in registration fee.  This course is open to all students in grades 10-12.

Science Placement Exam

Boone County High School Science Placement Exam:  Boone County High School will be administering a science placement exam to those incoming ninth graders wishing to surpass the foundational science course, Boone County Science Investigation (BCSI) and take Integrated Science or Integrated Science Honors. 

The placement exam will take place in Boone County High School’s commons Friday, February 17th at 3:30 p.m., Friday, February 24th at 3:30 p.m. and Saturday, February 25th at 9:30 a.m.
