From Boone County Schools From Boone County Schools

As we continue to improve school safety for our students, we would like to make you aware of a new safety measure coming to your child’s school. A Buzzer Entry System is being installed in every Boone County school building. This will allow visitors to be identified by the school, before they are permitted to enter the premises. The Buzzer Entry System is an added layer of security in addition to our School Resource Officer partnership where an SRO is also located in each school. The Buzzer Entry System will be operational at the start of the new 2018-2019 school year.

This additional safety feature enhances safety for the visitor as well as our students and staff. As we strive to continually enhance our school safety, we would ask that you please call your child’s school ahead to alert them that you are coming so they will be expecting you. Thank you for your support and understanding in helping us to secure our schools for our children and staff.

There are 15 members in bike club and along with a number of student mentors. Each bike club member works on their bike for the duration of the club which is from the end of February to the end of April. The bicycles are purchased with a STEM grant and the members get to keep their bikes at the end of bike club. The mentors are typically students who were previously in the Bike Club and already have bikes from the program. Boone County Schools Statement on Copy-Cat Threats logo

Boone County Schools is one of many school districts across the country that is being subjected to copy- cat threats of the school tragedy in Florida.  We are working with local authorities as they investigate a recent rash of rumors and threats on our campuses.  Student suspects in each of the cases were immediately identified and apprehended.  They were charged by local authorities and disciplined by their schools.   In each case a thorough investigation was conducted by the school district and authorities.  No student or staff member was ever in danger. Confidentiality laws prevent Boone County Schools from talking about the persons involved or the specifics of the incidents. Boone County Schools will continue to remain on alert, following our safety protocols and working with the Boone County Sheriff’s Department and Florence Police as future issues arise.

Your donated wrapped Halloween candy will be collected and sorted out to make bags of candy for teachers to help keep kids with T1D safe at RA Jones and Collins Elementary.

Please drop off your extra, wrapped Halloween candy to Ms Mann’s room (116) or look for the bins around school. Every little bit helps so bring in your unwanted or extra wrapped Halloween candy after you go Trick or Treating on Tuesday, October 31.
