Boone County Judge Executive Gary Moore recently swore in Karen Byrd and our newest board member, Cindy Young, to serve as members of the Boone County School Board.

Mrs. Byrd is a graduate of East Tennessee State University where she was a Dental Hygiene major. She relocated to Northern Kentucky in 1986 to be able to stay at home for a time with her son who was two at the time. She currently works for Johnson Investment Counsel supporting two Portfolio Managers and their teams. Mrs. Byrd has been actively involved in her children’s school through PTA, school event volunteering and chaperoning. She has been involved in her community through youth work at church and involvement in supporting and coaching baseball and basketball teams for boys and girls. Mrs. Byrd's vision for Boone County Schools future is to provide a quality education for each student that will effectively prepare them for whatever future path they choose.

Mrs. Cindy Young lives in Florence, Kentucky with her husband and their two children. She attended Northern Kentucky University and worked in medical billing before becoming a full-time wife and mother. A decision greatly supported by her husband. She home schooled her daughter, who is now taking courses at Gateway Community College. Her son began preschool in the Boone County School District and is currently a junior at the Ignite Institute and a member of the Boone County Rebels swim team. With her children well established in their education, and the awareness of the school board’s impact on the educational curriculum of its students, she made the decision to become actively involved in the full range of responsibilities of the Boone County School Board. She accepts this responsibility with humility and the desire to make a meaningful contribution to the future education of our children in becoming wise and productive citizens of this country.  Mrs. Young is replacing Jia Pile in Division 4 of the district.
