  • Extra Credit opportunity

Here is an extra credit opportunity for your child to complete over Winter break if they want (not required).  We recently watched and analyzed charter development in the 1986 version of "A Christmas Carol" with George C. Scott.  IF your child is interested in viewing another version, and writing a comparison paper (guidelines below) they can turn it in after break for 10 extra credit points in Language Arts.

Essay guidelines.  After viewing another version of A Christmas Carol, write a four paragraph essay comparing and contrasting the two versions.

Paragraph 1:  Introduction of the two versions:  answer who, what, when questions

Paragraph 2:  How the two versions are similar (use the names of the versions, not just "they.")

Paragraph 3:  How the two versions are different

Paragraph 4:  commentary:  Which version do you prefer and why.......give evidence.

Dads and Donuts"  event on Dec 11, at CEMS.  For more information call the main office at 534-4000.

  • General Information

We have been working with Mrs. Ashley's Language Arts classes on a characterization project.  We completed it on Monday, so we don't have vocabulary lessons for this week.  They will resume next week.

This week, and next we will be working on writing a personal narrative.  Please help you child think of incidents that they have experienced that have deeply impacted them, or caused them to change in some way.  That is what they will be using as a basis for their Personal Narrative.

After the Personal Narratives are completed, we will begin to look at Expository writing, creating assertions, evidence, and commentaries.  We will then compose expository pieces of our own.

When we return from Winter Break, all Language Arts classes will begin reading Walk Two Moons, by Sharon Creech.  I will have working copies of each chapter for the students, but they will not have a book that they can carry home.  In the past many of the students wanted to reread portions at home, and purchased books on their own. That iws a great idea, to review what we are doing in class.  If you are interested, the book has been our for quite some time and used copies usually can be purchased at second-hand books stores and on-line sites.  We will be doing lots of interesting and exciting activies around the book!!  I'll keep everyone postes on where we are via this website.
