Parents/Guardians of 8th Graders,

Welcome to another year of Ryle Baseball! It’s hard to believe that tryouts are a little over a month away. In order to prepare everyone for the coming season, I wanted to give you some information regarding the tryout process.

Tryouts for 8th graders will begin on Saturday, February 15 from 12-2. Players should come prepared for both indoor and outdoor workouts depending on the weather. In order to speed up the administrative steps that need to be taken ahead of time, I have attached three documents that need to be completed and returned to Mrs. Shafer BEFORE February 1. The first document is a player information sheet with important information regarding the player and the position(s) they will be trying out for. The second document is the KHSAA physical form. This must be completed by your child’s doctor (pediatrician, Minute Clinic, etc.) and turned in BEFORE we allow the player to try out on February 15. The third document is the St. Elizabeth Right to Treat Form which gives permission for our athletic trainers to provide assistance should an injury or other situation occur during tryouts. This document also must be completed BEFORE we allow the player to try out on February 15.

On February 1, the paperwork will be sent over to the High School in order to give us enough time to start to set up the try outs. These documents must all be turned in before tryouts begin on February 15. School policy stats that we give players a minimum of three (3) days before we make any decisions regarding cuts. The required three days will NOT be extended due to incomplete paperwork.  The final document that I have attached is the rubric that we will be using during the tryouts to evaluate each player.

As we all know the weather this time of year changes often. In order to stay up to date with times, schedules, cancellations, etc., I strongly encourage you to follow us on Twitter at @Ryle_Baseball. We are also utilizing the Band app as a way to increase communication between everyone. A link can be found “pinned” at the top of our Twitter profile. Just click on the link, download the app, and follow the prompts to stay up to date with everything Ryle Baseball.

I hope this packet of information helps to answer as many questions as possible regarding this year’s tryout. If you have any further questions you can contact myself at the information below or our Freshman Coach, Brad Bolte, at brad.bolte@st.elizabeth.com.

On behalf of the entire coaching staff, we thank you for your interest in Ryle Baseball and look forward to working with you in the 2020 season! We can’t wait to see you on February 15!

Joe Aylor

Head Varsity Baseball Coach
